Ride height increase after installing pillowballs

I bought a new set of Tein Pillow ball mounts and Koni yellows for my FC. I put the rears on today to discover, that after install, My car is sitting MUCH higher.

I installed as shown in the picture from the tein pillowball mounts, but I used the rubber spring retainer thing with the metal center underneath the tein assembly.

Has anyone run into a similar problem? I'm using the same springs I was with the old struts. Should I not have used the stock spring retainer, or should I have popped out the metal center on it somehow?

This was my first strut replacement I've done.

what do you mean by much higher?any estimate on how high?depending on the design of the pillowball mount it might sit higher.there are some mounts that space the upper spring seat/perch about 1/4 inch away from the strut mount.some even more.that may be the reason it sits higher.

It's roughly 1 1/2"-2" higher than it used to be. I mean, it's a very noticable difference. If that rubber spring thing wasn't supposed to be in there, it may be pre-loading the springs as a collar that is raising my ride height.

Here's a thread with a few more detail I put in the suspension forum. I'm just a bit concerned, and the car looks weird now too!
