Rex has sat for 1 year; NO COMPRESSION!
Well I'm picking up my 86 Rex tomorrow from the body shop. I went there tonight to get it running so I could drive it home, but i couldn't get it started. I checked the plugs, charged the battery (it was bad), and put a few gallons of fuel in it but still nothing. I then put about 1/2 a teaspoon of transmission fluid in eack spark plug hole to lube the apex seals (my local mazda dealer told me this a few years ago and it worked on my 88 rex). Still nothing. It smelled flooded so i pulled the plugs and they look kinda fouled, but i'm not sure b/c the plug is funny looking to begin with (but it was chared) and I turned the ignition over to blow out all that gas that was flooding it. Once it was all back together it still wouldn't start. It did build compression then pitter-pattered for a sec, and then it started for about 4-5 seconds but stalled. After that I couldn't get it to even make a noise other than it turning over. I was thinking I shoulda did the tranny fluid before i put the plugs in b/c the fluid could have burnt up and ruined the plugs. I DID get compression though, so I'm half way there. Any tips other than new plugs?

Gurus like hypntyz7 and Hailers (I think) have commented that rebuilds often need to be run for an hour or more before compression gets up to normal. Don't ask me why. Maybe you're in the midst of something similar here.
I'd suggest that you install a fuel-kill switch (do a search) to deal with the flooding prob. And check this out:

Opinions are like........
Clean the plugs with carb cleaner/toothbrush while charging that battery. Your gonna need as much battery power as possible.
Disconnect CAS to prevent spark from igniting fuel spit from engine. Turn engine over with plugs out to clear out engine.
Moisture in gas is a possibility. Add more fuel. Add some 2strokeoil/ATF/MMO to gas(256:1 or more) to prevent damage while waiting for OMP to prime/fill oil lines/injectors etc.
Change engine oil--its already a year old and is thinning out because of flooding.
Try some starting fluid ether. Don't use too much because it can cause a BOOM.
You could also try a tow start. I don't care for tow starting but some people have success with it.
