rev's to 3000rpms then dies after 20 seconds?

hey, i just took off all the manifolds and fixed a siezed 6th port (1991 gxl). then started it up and it seemed like it was a little louder than normal when warming up to 3000rpms then when it was dropping down to normal rpms it died. did it twice, dont want to break anything and its getting dark outside now so hoping maybe someone could give me some advice so i can fix it first thing tomorrow.
thanks in advance

i think its probably something with vacum lines maybe i mixed some up anyone have any ideas which ones?

A vacuum leak would be my educated guess.

Mine does that sometimes when it's cold, I just hold the idle when it drops for a couple seconds and it's fine.

hmm ill give that a shot... it never did it before... and i just took off basically all the vacum hoses when i took off all the manifolds, im gonna take he fsm chart print it out and take a look at what i did and see if it all matches up.

hmmm was too impatient went outside and tried to keep it from stalling with the gas to no avail, i found one vacum hose un hooked up but that didn't change anything when i plugged it in.

anyone have any more ideas?

The brake booster hose. I always forget that hose and it will cause what you speak of. It goes from the manifold to a hard pipe that runs on the firewall.

I'm having a similar problem at the moment.... For a while my car has been odd about starting. When I start it I have to press the pedal lightly to bounce the RPMs about 200rpms or so.... after 10 seconds it usually will hold on it's own. If I don't do this the RPMs get low and it struggles and will die.

But last night it was really cold out. I tried it for about 5 minutes (turned it off 2 times..) and coudn't get anywhere. Well I'm getting over a cold and didn't feel like being out in 20 degree weather messing with this so I left with my old (er, newer?) Honda.

Today I tried to start it since it wasn't so cold anymore... Right now it's being different. I'll try to rev it a little and after 5-10 seconds it seems like the gas pedal gets a lot harder to press and it takes more effort to do anything. But it seems even then like it's having no effect and the car will die anyway. I know this is like when I had a vacuum leak in the past.... But I don't seem to recall the gas pedal seeming to resist me back then. And I couldn't find any leaks today (again, didn't feel like being out in the cold long while sick).... Anyone have any clues about what it could be?

I wondered if it could be something w/ the throttle cable but I don't see what would do that....

If it's cold it could be that, doesn't the thermowax need the heat from the coolant to function??

heres an update on mine...
it runs when we only hold down secondary throttle partway but instantly dies with primary throttle input, it likes to stay around 3k but got it to around 1.5k and highest it goes is 4k

Well if it's the thermowax pellet, hopefully it'll warm up some here soon so I can go out and get the TB off. Figure I'll go ahead and do the TB mod.... In hopes of it running after that. No worries guys, I never go WOT when the engine is cold or when in low RPMs. It'll be nice to get a mod out of the way and remove that horrid hose between the UIM and engine while hopefully fixing a problem....

Just fixed that hose on my T2. If u want to remove the UIM hose to Water pump if u look the water pump housing has a hose coming off the back. Use a L shaped water hose from there to the center iron(?) . use hose clamps. Also that going to 2-3 K rpms and dying is probably a missing BAC or other larger vacuum hose.
If u remove the water to Thermo wax hose then screw the thermowax screw all the way down (in)
