Lightbulb revolutionary new boost controller

i wish i had a picture to start the thread off but basicly I took a $2 plastic sheet from an arts and crafts store, drilled some holes in it and put in on top or the air filter.. it works great!

I have an 88 TII that I just put a full 3" RB exhaust on and was worried about the high boost. I looked at exhaust restrictor plates, but they would be difficult to remove in the future. Someone else, I think it was bambam7, proposed this idea to me a week ago or so and I tried it. Now I'm down around 6-7 psi with no spiking and what's even cooler is the car doesn't feel that much slower.. one of the first things I noticed when I first got the exhaust was how quick it was in first gear even before the boost had chance to climb, and that feel's still there!

Anyway, it's a great way to bring down the boost, I was just curious if anyone else has ever tried it?

Also, I'm thinking of drilling a few more holes to bring it up to around 9-10 with the aid of an FCD.. I do have a walbro fp, but everything else is stock, would I be safe at these levels? Also, I haven't really thought about it, but what if I left the restricter as is in the airbox(keeping the boost around 6-7) and just got a boost controller to turn it up to 9-10? would there be any disadvantages to this?

Thanks again for everyone who's been helping me lately, my car's finally pretty awesome

heh, i think its kinda funny. you want lower boost, but i want higher boost. lol. good job man. yeah with a walbro and FCD you should be safe at 9-10 psi. but if/when you go over that, youll need injectors too. btw, hows that RB turbo back sound? i kinda have my eye on that one.

9-10 eh? cool, that's what I wanted.. I drilled a few more holes today and brought it up a little, but now, around 7 I get a slight hestitation and immediately let off the gas.. I don't think it's fuel cut.. my boost gauge seems pretty accurate.. it's way above 3800 rpms too.
I used to get bad hesitations in high rpms because my cat was clogged, but thought that was fixed..

hmm.. it wasn't doing this when I had no restrictor plate or when I first put it in, but ever since I drilled a few more holes, it's doin it..

and the RB exhaust is awesome! I'm broke now, but it was worth every penny.. sounds great, looks great and makes your car a hell of a lot faster!

I think fuel cut should come at 6 or 7 psi on the 87/88. probably that..
