car rev's freely in 3rd and higher

exactly as the title says tranny or tps?

so you shift into 3rd 4th 5th gear and when you push the gas to accelerate it just revs like its in neutral? make sure your gettng t into gear first of all. it could be the clutch, syncros, gears, or even the shifter.

the TPS has absolutely nothing to do with what you're explaining. If you are definately in gear (5 speed), then your clutch(doesn't sound like it) or your tranny is trash(speaking figuratively). For automatic, then it could be a couple things. Could be the burger (torque converter), clutches, broken shaft, etc etc. Take it to a tranny shop and explain your problems and see what they tell you. This SHOULD be one time that it doesn't matter that it's an rx7. A tranny is a tranny is a tranny.
