reverse is messed up

most of the time, when i shift, it is pretty smooth (aside from the fact that my shifter bushings are completely shot)

sometimes, when I shift into reverse I hear a grinding sound as if I hadn't depressed the clutch. This only happens once in a while, and ususally when I just started the car up.

What could be causing this? is it the loose shifter? the dead bushings?

Sometimes you need to let the car roll forward sometimes to move the gears in the tranny to get reverse to go in smooth. Does it just happen with reverse or do you have this problem first 1st also?

this is because reverse isn't syncronized on FCs...most newer cars have reverse syncro...but ours don't the problem is normal...if you put it in slower it wont grind...
