Rev. Problem
Rev. Problem
Hi, my name is George and I am have a free rev. problem. I just got my project car running today. I had it starting but it never would last more than a minute. But today I switched the AFM and now it will give me throttle control and rev play. The problem is that is stops evenly on the 5k mark. It sounds like it is running out of gas or something it just back fires really fast and won't go past. I was wondering if anyone knew why this might happen. The car is completely stock 87' Turbo II with the exhaust taken off from the cat back?
P.S. sorry if I sound retarded just try to make it through the babble and help please.

hhmmm the 5K mark...
BEWARE!!!!
sounds like the issue I had, cut out at exactly 5K come to fine out it was OVER BOOSTING (due to an unpluged actuator "t" line which ran it LEAN), needless to say the turbo lasted 3 days and a HELL of a lot of oil in the exhaust system.
so have you checked your boost #'s??

The dash boost gauge is busted it reads nothing at all
So I guess I should try and get an aftermarket one asap?
I am not driving it around it just is sitting in the driveway so I hope it won't lean out and fry the turbo from a few minutes of abuse.
