Resoldering CPU, a few ?'s
Taking apart a FB01 (I'm still gonna send ya this on Icemark, just using it as a test to see if I can get it apart without breaking before I tackle the rarer FC01.
I've removed three circuit boards.
2 from the bottom, one 7 prong w/ 2 coils wrapped with copper?, one 4 prong.
1 from the back, 16 prong.
My questions:
-Does anyone know the exact function of each board?
-I am guessing that the alarm/reminder buzzers are on the larger of the boards?
(I don't see any buzzer on the smaller boards what so ever.)
Identifying bad solder joints? (I'm going to redo all of the connectors, just wondering if there is a method of obviously seeing the bad ones...some of the solder is slighly discolored)
Should I redo all the solder that has a wire coming through?
TIA,
Joe

Turn signal and Hazard is board A (med accessed from bottom)
Stop light warning is board B (small board accessed from bottom)
Board C (large board accessed from the middle has key lumination, Lights on warning, Horn, Seat belt timer and buzzer, Alt warning relay, key reminder, and delay circuit.

I normally remove all the old solder from all joints and flow new solder in. But unless you are pretty skilled with the soldering iron, don't attempt it on any of the joints that have small electronics like resistors or capcitors, as you can overheat and distroy them.

Update:
I didn't pull off the old solder I just resoldered (reheating and pulling) the old connections on the top half of the CPU (everything above the large connector). Nothing changed, good or bad.
Then it dawned on me. I noticed what I presumed to be the section relative to the alarm is likely not the alarm at all.
Reason?
FB01 has two connectors at the base. The FC01 has only a single connector at the base. From what I can discern one of the circuit boards from the base (from memory here...) the 4 prong one has been moved into the bigger board.
The FSM provides a circuit diagram, but it's kinda hard to see where the circuitry is in relation to the diagram (it appears to be a FC01...for instance, the bottom row of pins on the larger plug -big board- has 11 pins...if I remember correctly, the FB01 doesn't have but 8 or so on the bottom row).
Evidently, I did ok with the resistors on the top half of the board...some of the connection pins did get rather hot after loosening the solder and drawing it up the pin.
Now I am at a crossroads. Do I attempt to solder down the lower half onto what appears to be a large EEPROM like chip? Should I reference the pin labeled for the alarm circuitry and attempt to follow it on the board?
Pros:
Dinging reminders for the lights and doors.
Alarm functioning...atleast more than it is now... .
Cons:
I damage the large chipset...dead everything?
Dead...that'd just freaking suck.
Thanks for your help Icemark!
