Resetting Theft Deterrent Unit

I recently purchased a 89 GXE with a manual trans non turbo, it ran and drove. Ihad to replace the battery. After I replaced the battery the car will not turn over. The headlites open and close but there is no blower motor, no elec windows, no radio, nothing....there is a security lamp lit on the center console. My Haynes repair manual shows a "theft deterrent unit" on the schematic however, there is no mention of it in the text. I believe this system disables the starting circuit. Where is this unit and how do I reset it?

Thanks, ljgaynor daytona fl

80 amp? The only fuses I have in both of my S5's are 100amp, 60amp and 30 amp.

Probably put the battery in backwards and blew the main fuse. If you are lucky, that is all you blew.

Remember the battery sits backwards to many cars, with the ground (-) terminal being the one nearest to the headlight with the Black wire that has a yellow stripe, and the positive (+) being nearest to the shock tower with the solid black wire.

Way back when I had my theft unit enabled I would have to turn it off using the key in the driver's door.

If the factory security system is armed and disabling the starter, the light would be flashing once every couple seconds. It would not be on all the time, or flashing more than once a second
