Replacing ignition

I recently carbed my fc with a sidedraft. The only thing I have left to do is find a suitable ignition setup and tune it. I was looking for some insight from people who have been there and done that. I heard rumor that there was also an option to mod the cas and fire an msd box right off of it? I have 2 cas' and 2 sets of coils (leading and trailing). I definitely need some advice and help piecing it together.

Thanks in advance.

The stock system is good enough.

Did you not read the original post?

Use an ignition system from an '81+ 1st gen. You'll need the distributer w/ignitors, coils, some wire and a relay. If you check the wiring diagrams, hookup will be obvious. There is no way to use the stock CAS without the stock ECU.

Can you afford an MSD Digital-7?
For that price, you might as well go stand-alone.
This is about the only MSD box that I know of that can be programmed.

Else, you cannot expect to slap a CDI box onto the CAS and expect it to work efficiently.
You lose all advance (and retard) functions versus the stock ECU control.

Why would you want to get rid of the stock fuel injection anyways???

What do you think? A vacuum source...

Seriously, I'm not trying to be an ***, but this is all very basic and in the manuals.

**** I retrack my statement I read to fast. Sorry about that. Also if you use the 1st gen setup they have been doing some kind of mod that is supposed to help alot. Its the transistor trick or something should be worth a read.
