Whoever pulled the fill plug off my tranny last time managed to force one in that has a completly different thread, and I think you all know what happened. Anyways, I'm in need of a replacement, because there's no way in hell I'm going to trust that thing to seal properly, and I'd like to be able to pull it off again if the need arises.
I was thinking of getting one of those plugs that has a chunk of rubber placed between two large washers with a screw running through the middle. You tighten the screw, the washers squeeze the rubber, and you get one bitching seal after cranking it all down.
The only foreseeable problem is the clearance between the inner edge of the housing and the transmission internals. I don't want this new plug to hit something inside and end up with a bigger headache. Thanks for any advice yo.

The last time I poked my finger in the fill hole, there was nothing near the hole.
Also the fill tube I use goes in over 1" before hitting anything.
Just make sure that the rubber will stand up to really hot oil.

Of course, only time will tell, but it beats the crap out of putting a crappy bolt back in the already thrashed threads.
