Replacing convertible top
I’m thinking of trying to replace my vert top myself. Just wondering how many have done it and how big of a PITA it is to do? I’m very mechanically inclined and have done almost all the work to my own cars all my life but sometimes with stuff like this you’re better off just getting somebody else to install it and pick up some over time at work to pay for it. Also the tops they sell on ebay, are they any good? I’m sure some must be better quality than others. Anyway, does anybody have any tips/tricks when doing it?
Thanks in advance!

I did it myself. It was the first time I did a convertible top, wasn't too hard, I did it without the manual. Although the top I put on had the window in it already.
Stay away from the ebay tops. Run a search on a good quality top to buy. Be prepared to shell out $700+.

Here is a write-up from the V*Rx7 forum-I cannot view the pictures attached in Firefox browser, but they show up fine in Internet Explorer:

How to reinstall the window-rope it in:

Also you need a copy of the Factory Service Manual (FSM). Good diagrams and pics here:

Forum thread with discussion regarding 'ebay' tops. My 'ebay' top fits just fine, looks great and is holding up just fine after 4 years in the Texas sun.

Take your time, work slowly and carefully, cut the window out carefully and you will be fine.
Good Luck!
