Not necessary unless the facing is scorched. There isn't a practical way to resurface it.

However, I have almost always replaced it as the springs on it do wear out.

Wise choice. If you've got it apart, time to change all, or you'll prbably just be pulling it apart once again. The springs weaken with the age and heat generated. When I pulled the OE assembly from my S5TII, the clutch lining was in good shape, but it would slip slightly when shifting into 2nd under hard acceleration. Not enough clamping force from the PP. Replaced it with the Mazda OE clutch/PP etc. No problems.

How many miles are on your car? Mine only had 85k when I changed clutch over to a 4-puck, still used the stock pressure plate. Yes, you should change it while your in there to save yourself the hassle. I didn't, works fine.

I'm getting ready to change mine. The PP is an ACT HD with 4k miles on it. I think it should be ok. I have a 6 puck disc new for it and a new flywheel. I cant see the PP not being able to hold 360whp.
