Replaced water pump and housing gasket, car won't start

Hey guys so i replaced my leaking water pump and water pump housing gasket and in doing so i unhooked the lines from my s5 MOP. i think i got them reconnected correctly but when i went to start the car it took forever and after it finally started my MIL was on. I drove it home, ran fine. Went to start it again this morning and it wouldnt start again. If the hoses coming from the MOP were incorrecty reinstalled would that be causing my hard start? Im still trying to learn the ins and outs of the rotary and i thought i had a pretty good grasp on the situation... apparently i was wrong. thanks in advance for your help.

The sensor on the WP housing feeds the ECU, not the gauge.
It is apparently fairly common for the connectors to be loose and make poor contact.

If it's an S5 water pump housing it will have two sensors.

Pull the elect plug off the water thermo sensor. Look into the elect plug and see if one of the two connectors is pushed back into the elect plug therefore not making contact with the prongs on in the sensor itself.

One wire should be green/white if your on the right sensor.

With the connector on good you should now be able to turn the key On and there should be no fault code for a water thermosensor. Engine does not have to be running, Just key ON.
