replaced fuel sock; car runs better
My car was bogging down going uphill for about a year. I tinkered around with just about everything on the car. The only thing that seemed to help was replacing the under hood fuel filter, but that did not last long. I just about gave up when I read about the fuel sock or fuel strainer on the fuel pump. I had tried everything else so I figured why not. When I removed the strainer it looked clogged but not real bad. Then I noticed all of the fuel inside the sock was still in the sock. Even as I shook it around the fuel could not escape. So I went to advanced and got a new one for 18 bucks and put it on. Took the car for a spin and it ran better than it has for awhile.
I guess it makes some sense, seeing as has a fuel filter can get clogged and cause trouble. Why couldn't the strainer do the same. Especially being in a car that is 18 years old.
I have no hard evidence that this worked. Just the feel of the car. But it was a pretty noticeable feel.
If anybody has any good reason why this should not work, please chime in and set me straight. No use in spreading useless info.
For 18 bucks, it's worth a shot if your all out of ideas.
