Repair & Restoration of 88' RX7

Looking for tips and advice or links to other Mazda sites that have chat rooms for repair, restoration, and upgrades. I have an 88 RX7 that needs some work and I'm a bit leary on how to go about it. The battery gets drained if I leave the cables on. Anyone know anything about this?
