wow. Sorry kids, I didn't mean to talk dirty around the virgin ears.

I don't like being treated like an idiot.

"oh let me help you..."

I'm not in kindergarten, you don't need to grab my wrist.

I know to read before ****ing asking ****ing questions.

"fabrication" is a vague description. It's not very clear at all about what ACTUALLY needs to be done

Just delete the ****ing thread Icemark. Don't **** around with the things I say.

A "jack ***" is someone who is rude. He was rude to me, talking to me like I'm a ****ing infant. I don't take being treated like I'm stupid very lightly.

I wasn't insulting or flaming anyone.

Has anyone analyzed the operation of that 3-stage intake system?

I have this nasty feeling one of them is a progressive switch?

I mean there's a LOT of hearsay being stated in this thread without a lot of references to back up such claims...

There is already a production supercharger setup for the Renesis. Search on google, or something. Or RX8 club. In the end, it uses the original engine cover and looks completely factory.

When you ask questions, try not to be a ***** when people give you reasonable answers.

I expect it because i've already heard it a hundred times. Yes, I know the damn 20b is sweet. I've seen it done.
Now the question is...have you done it?
You know what...
I have.
We made 232 at the wheels with at least 190 lb-ft of torque.
This was with a stock 20B block with a custom header.
Approximate cost to replicate was about $7,000 last time I checked.

The 20B is going to smoke the RX-8 motor due to sheer torque.
I put money on it.

The "high" hp numbers off the RX-8 motor sound tempting, but when it comes down to it, it's torque that makes the car fun to drive.

I know what the difference between a 2-rotor versus a 3-rotor feels like.
The question is...
Do you?

That's the problem with threads like this.
It's going to almost always erupt into a flame war.

FACT: The motor is almost always going to cost more than the car itself.

That alone with turn off most FC owners, due to sheer costs.

You're smearing mud in our faces by explicitly stating that this is a purely theoretical discussion - there is no money involved in this project.
You just want to "talk about it."

Well, we're talking about it.
You might not like how the discussion is going, but the jist of it is that unless you have money to burn, it's a waste of money - according to the accountants and bean counters.

If money isn't an issue, you should just go ahead and do it regardless of what we say...

Ok, well since you're not a "kindergarten" and you don't need me to "grab your wrist"........tell me what you THINK is involved in swap for fabrication?

Engine mounts/subframe perhaps?
Coolant lines?
Oil cooler lines?
Depending on what tranny you use you'll probably need tranny mounts and a driveshaft, right?
Not sure about all of the emissions that come on the Renesis but you'll probably have to block them off?

I hope that wasn't holding your hand too much for your tastes. If you don't want people to give their opinions and advice - don't post - and as you can imagine not everyone on the planet has an up and up sense of decency, so what do you expect?

You asked about putting an engine into a car its not designed for, and since you apparently aren't a kindergarten student, you should be aware that there is probably as much work involved with this swap as there is any other. Therefore for the price and work involved you may as well be doing a 20B swap. This is where those responses were derrived from. They weren't stabs at your intelligence, they were logical suggestions comparing the two swaps and the potential of each motor respectively.

The RX-8 is a sweet ride, and it already has the renesis motor custom installed!

I bet the cost will be about the same.

okay as most typicall Reni into a FC threads, this one has degraded to being no more help.

So: thread closed.

If the originator of the thread would like it re-opened he can PM either myself or any other 2nd gen RX-7 technical section moderator with a valid reason and we will re-open it.
