Diffrent exhaust and intake manifolds, it has both the exhaust and intake ports on the side housings, very powerful n/a. It will be a few years before we can get hold of those suckers, we just have to wait a little...

Can you say "more expensive"?

from a show standpoint, the engine would be priceless. the first person to put a renesis into a rx7 would be very popular. as far as racing and everyday driving go, it's just not worth the cash and i'd rather spend $10k making the car damn fast, instead of just saying i've got a renesis with better emissions! it will happen, no doubt

The Renesis is a completely diffrent animal. Longevity? Probably will last longer than others since the apex seal don't have to float over the exhaust port. The exhaust port on the Renesis looks just like an intake port upside down. There is still a lot to be done with rew engines and 20B's, For example my friend Jose Torres "Siguel Racing" got to run 7:13 on his 20B 3rd gen drag RX-7 without nitrous nor using the full HP he got out of the engine. So I think that not untill we do all that can be done to the older engines thinking about a Renesis swap seems like jumping into a lake without knowing how to swim. Renesis is an outstanding piece of work you might even say piece of art but, there is a lot to be done before we see a Renesis engine outperform an older engine. This is just my opinion...

There is a lot more to an engine than just how much horsepower it puts out....

I head a nasty rumor about carbon building up on the corner seals, due to the exhaust port being on the side housing. A problem they encountered with the 1st rotary engines. Possible they might delay the release date of the RX-8? Lets hope thats just a rumor. . .

Yo,

I spoke with Charlie Hughes at Sevenstock this year, he said it will be 1 to 2 years before Renesis motors will be available. Production RX-8's will have priority. He also mentioned that they wanted to stick a Renesis into an FD down in Irvine for giggles, but the packaging issues were too much to justify it.

Let's hope that's because of the FD's cramped engine bay and low hoodline.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Renesis in my GTUs sometime in the future. GTUss!

I cant remember which car mag it was i think motor trend but they said that the if the rx8 does good a 2door coupe will come out with about 280hp and be called the rx7 and it also said that the 2005 miata will have a rotary option! went on to say some numbers like 0-60 in less than 5 seconds.....sweet

As for turbo i havent heard anything yet but you have to think it wont be long before japan has it down then they will release it here but it all depends on how the rx8 does....

I'll agree with the 160hp vs 250hp NA comparison.

My feelings are that the new rotary has tons of potential.
Just look at it this way, 250hp with carb/epa/dot/treehugger/ecoweenie certification.
Imagine the power of the Renesis with headers/nocats/decent exhaust/intake/and serious ECU tuning.
Can we say 300+hp streetable NA?

Now all my investments are worth nothing, a Renesis swap is not in my future. But, I started buying lottery tickets.

Also, with all the warranty engine replacements for the FD that happened, we can only expect that Mazda's parts warehouse will have plenty of engines for teething pains/problems etc. Cost will be high.
