do you mean the fan shroud? if you do remove it, it will affect your cooling in a negative way

 

unless you switch to a electric fan of some sort, removing the fan shroud will decrease your fans cooling ability to draw air thru your radi. The shroud helps direct air to pass thru the radi along with all the other shroud in the front. In other words these shrouds are a vital part of the cooling system.

 

Without that shroud, the fan will not pull air through the rad. You need the shroud.

either way if you NEED to remove it due to replacing the radiator or what ever. just bend it till it clears the upper radiator hose the just lift out. manhandle that thing till it comes out.

I'd be a little more concerned with HOW my car functions than how "ugly" the area under the hood looks. Everything on the car is there for a reason.

 

definitely but im tryyin to clean up my bay alot, the ca was really skanky when i got it so lots of TLC is required. for example the car ground everyimte i shifted into second when i got it but now it shifts fine whenever i shitf below liek 5 grand. its a big project wiht lots of work involved for me bieing a beginner.

 

The fan shroud doesnt look that bad anyway, mines nice and shiny. If the stock intake isnt there, it makes a great table to put your tools when working under the hood. Without it you're probably going to run into come cooling problems.

what a bout i HP radiator? cuz i think that might increase the coolign enough to remove it? because ive seen cars without it. thats why im asking.

 

The ones that you have seen without it have an E-fan attached, which have their own shroud. Think of how dangerous that big stock fan sticking out in the open would be wiuthout the shroud as well.

 

do and e-fan theres a write up on how to go to the junk yard and get a ford taurus e fan and install it, or you could buy one made for the fc but i think its like 150$
ohh you can man handle the shroud ive took mine out twice and once on my other fc. hasnt broke its pretty flexible

No matter what radiator you get you need some kind of shroud for the stock clutchfan, and even for an electrical fan .

If the air has no path to go on it will not cool the engine as well as it would with a shrould that directs all the air at the engine to help cool it more efficiently, getting a better fan will only improve the amount of air that gets to the engine if it can actually reach the engine.

 

Unless you plan on switching to an electric radiator mounted fan, i would NOT suggest removing the plastic fan shroud. It's vital to pulling air thru the viscous fan and cooling the radiator fluid.

 

I'm pretty sure that IceMark pointed out that you don't really gain much by using an e-fan unless your clutch fan is dead. If you clutch fan is still working, then just leave the fan shroud on. If it's not, then put an e-fan in unless you can find a cheap clutch.

I ran mine w/o a shroud for quite sometime....didn't notice any difference in operating temps. It's back on now though.

It's not that ugly, and it makes for a good shelf for your tools, and nuts/bolts while you're working on the car.
