Removing old gasket

I took off the UIM and the LIM and now I’m trying to get the old gasket off. I got most of it off with a razor blade but there are certain parts that just take to long with a blade. I was just wondering how some of you guys removed your old gaskets.

Some 220 or 320 sandpaper and your spit should knock them clean off. Or you could use water, but why waste the water?

Good idea. You can use a bench grinder with the wire wheel and blast that stuff off there real quick. And you could also grind all the junk off the UIM and LIM and polish it up real nice like while you have the chance.

I have a wire brush that attaches to my drill and it works ok, but it scratches the hell out of the soft aluminum. Deep enough scratches to where I decided to stop and ask you guys of another less destructive way.

I use the Permatex gasket remover , just spray on the gasket and use a razor blade to take it off ,and I use a very fine sandpaper to sand it
