Removing my cat?

Hey guys, i just bought an 87 N/A rx7. Im want to start adding a bit of power, nothing to big at first. I heard removing the cat helps. Has anyone done this and noticed a difference? is it worth it ? thanks in advance

it will give you a little hp and you will be able to shoot flames with a free flowing exhaust but then you have to do something about your actuator ports ( 5th and 6th ports) http://www.fc3s.org/how_tos/electrical/6_ports.html
may help a little

Hey i recently did that, and the only problem is that there is a tube connecting your cat to a little hose that uses the exhaust backpressure to open your aux ports. forget about getting expensive(hey to me, 25bucks is expensive) electrical stuff to make them work. all you have to do is drill a little hole in the big hose conecting your air pump to your acv(passengers side, lower part of engine right above exhaust manifold) and get like a foot and a half of small diameter vaccum hose. it cost me like .70 cents or something at autozone. then get a hose coupler and a little valve with two outs on it(like ones used for aquariums) put the coupler on the end of the vacuum hose u bought and shove it into the hole you drilled into the air pump hose. then connect it to the valve and connect your hose from the port actuators(right beside the rear actuator) to one of the outs. leave that out's valve on the fully open position, and the other out about 1/3 way open. and everything should work nicely. you can then have an assistant rev the car to about 4k while you adjust the valves slightly so the ports will start to open about 3200 on the tach. sorry to be so long and confusing, but there is another write up on this at http://www.rotaryressurection.com in the tech section. its how mine work and they work great. just make sure your actuators work first, cause one of mine wasnt good (about 5 bucks at a junk yard tho).....
