removing indiglo guages.
This is going to sound like a stupid question, but when I bought the car it had indiglo guages on it, and now like every crappy rice product ever, they are going out. So I'm going to take them out tomorrow, my question is do the indiglo guages replace the normal guages or are they just an overlay? If I'm going to pull the guages out of there and find out my stock guages are somewhere in a garbage can I'm not going to bother.
Thanks for any help.

they are stick on overlays, unless some dork painted or scraped up the faces it is fine to remove them. Just to make sure, peel off an edge first and look to see if your original gauges are okay. But there are no replacement indiglo gauges only overlays.

How can you say that. I don' think anything is better than the JDM glow of stock amber gauges. You probably like the purple gauges in the newer volkswagons also though don't you.
"Amber illumination, born, breed, and installed in JAPAN" that's as JDM as it gets.

Yea they will be overlays, Just make sure you peel slow. And also make sure you fix the wiring harness where the inverter ties into the lighting circut.
Boat places sell this stuff called "Liquid electrical tape" It works out pretty good to cover up stripped wires.

putting it down daily
I just opted to change the stereo face to match the blue ones.
Now all I need is Icemark's rebuilt logicon w/ blue lights, and i'm almost rid of that dreaded orange...
yeah, I do like the backlit version better than my radioactive blues- but they look sweet in the daytime. I may just wire in some white led's so my red needles will still be visible at night instead of just silhouetted against the blue.

Thanks for the advice on the wiring harness, that is going to be a PITA I'm sure. See, they guy who I bought it from told me he had some "issues" getting the guages to work. put it to you this way. The parking lights don't turn on with the switch, there is a little auxilary switch now, that the guages are wired to, and then the dimmer doesn't work either... I'm not sure what I'm gonna find in there, but luckily I install stereos in my spare time so i've got solder, connectors, shrink tube the works.
I'm going to an orange and red theme Norskog red LED guages and a Sony headunit, then all the stock orangeness. Blue is getting too popular. Not that I don't like it I just have this uncontrolable urge to be different in the most suttle way possible.

They have mph and kph on them. the only gauge that's not metric is the oil pressure, but who knows how much a kg/cm2 is anyway. You can ge these on ebay- they have several designs, indiglo, reverse indiglo, silver, white, etc.
Insted of removing the indiglo faces, you'd probibly be better off just finding a cluster with similar mileage. If the gauge faces were installed properly they would have been super glued or contact cemented in place to prevent needle interferance. Most dont come with their own adhesive, at least mine didnt.

The kit I have just lays over the stock and gets screwed in so your faces should be fine but the stck lights are removed when you put the indiglo in so youll have to replace them if you want to see your guages at night again. BTw they are not rice they are georgous especially with ssome mtching autometers c2 or lunar gauges. if it helps heres the install instructions so just go in reverse.
