Removing the AFM?

Well, i've got a first gen but i figured the people in this section would know more about this than the 1st gen owners, i'm wanting to remove my AFM, would a safc be able to trick the computer into thinking the AFM is still hooked up, if not is there anyway to remove this thing?

No, the only way that you can remove the AFM is if you go with a standalone (haltech..etc...) The SAFC only controls the fuel delivery. The ecu needs input from the AFM to run.

a standalone ECU is one that replaces your ECU altogether, It may have another form of metering air, but it pretty much takes over what your ECU does. A good example of a standalone computer is the Link EMS system. Bloody AMAZING computer. Honest to god. My friend has one in his 12psi Miata. You have control over every little tidbit of your car. You can adjust the air/fuel ratio on the fly. You can tune your car like you wouldnt believe. Problem is, it's NOT cheap by any means.

I hear d a rumor once on the power of the standalone ecu's: you can tell your car to do anything, turn on the a/c, heater, ect, ect, ect. I'm sure if it could do it, but on the newer cars it probably could.
