You do NOT get better gas milage with AC on vs no ac/windows open. been there tried that. Maybe its just me, but all 3 of my FC's that ive owned they all came with a working AC, and none of them was good enough for me to use. mpg, and the loss of power was DEFANITLY not worth it. i dunno sacramento gets decently hot we have 100+ all the time in the summer, and its not THAT big a deal, the only thing that gets to me, is when i sit down and my seat is burning hot, or my steering wheel, and thats all things AC wont do **** for.
Pull all the AC crap under the hood. You'll feel better after removing it, trust me!
The only benifit to removing the AC is the feeling of accomplishment. A cleaner engine bay. The car can potentialy run a little cooler (the AC condenser makes a good wind-breaker for the radiator.) I know mine did.
I say toss it. Real sports cars dont have AC

As I said before, if you take it out, you seperate the fan from the rest of the system and render your climate control system useless. Martin, the total A/C system weight is way more than 10lbs. I didn't really feel a difference after I removed it, but if you're doing any real weight reduction on an FC, the A/C is a good place to start.

At low speed the increased drag due to open windows is less than the AC draw on the engine. And at high speed, vice versa.
So if you test the difference at 30 MPH and I test it at 75 MPH, you'll prefer windows open and I'll prefer 60 degree air on my crotch.
