Removing 5th and 6th port sleeves..

I've been thinking about removing the 5th and 6th port sleeves entirely and also removing the actuators as they would no longer be nessessary. Is there anyone here that has done this? What all is involved? I'm looking into going to a bare block, trying to remove everything thats not nessessary. Keeping only my power steering by choice. Thanks in advance..

Yes, Ive done it and i know several other forum members have also.. It'll give you a better high end gain than wiring the ports open and more low end than having them wired open, so you may as well if they dont work. If yours are completly froze, you may run into problems getting the sleeves out. Just so you know, the entire intake has to be taken off to do this, it does take a little time. Now is also a good tiem to get new vacuum lines for those hard to reach ones that you'll expose. Once the entire intake is off, you can get the rods out of the lower intake with it out of the car, i only wish i had done it that way Then you should be looking at the block, with two sleeves jammed in. take pliers or whatever and pull them out being careful not to let anything fall in, that'd be bad. After you pull them out you're half done. Now make some blockoff plates where the actuator rods went into the lower intake, i used 1/4 inch aluminum, works great. Now put it back together with new gaskets. Good luck, email me if u have any questions or need help.

Email me at motoguy37@aol.com and i'll be happy to send you some pics from when i did mine. Just put something like "6 port sleeves" or something in the title so i dont delete.
