Its bottom. The top trailing plugs holes are very tiny and won't give much of a reading.

Both upper...
If you use the leadings, the compression is *slightly* lower.

It really doesn't matter which holes give you higher or lower readings. If you're comparing your readings to Mazda's specs then you need to use Mazda's method. So you should use the upper (trailing) plug holes.
