I want to get my hatch struts rebuilt, my car has the light on it and so I figure it might be worth keeping.

My question is, the wire that rides all the way down the strut and behind the plastic interior: Do I have to remove all of the interior to access the plug? Or can I just unbolt the strut and gain access to the plug by pulling it out?

 

Pull the plug going into the b-pillar and there should be a little 1 wire plug to disconnect.
