It's a Flash To Pass Light, also known as a FTP lense around here

Those are the FTP lenses. They are useless on our cars as they didn't come with FTP lights. As for cleaning them, no idea. Maybe someone else can help you out with that.

Someone didn't read the owners manual.

The headlights on our cars are wired to be FTP through those lenses...

why do you think they are called Flash to pass???

Ehm... they seem to work very nicely for daytime running lights, with the headlights on when lowered.

And if you search for "FTP Cleaning", or "Flash to pass cleaning", or something along those lines, you'll find quite a bit.

I believe you have to remove the bumper skin to get them out, but it's been a while since I've had the front of my FC apart, and there may be a trick to getting them out that I don't know.

Useless? They aren't useless. The reason they are called Flash-to-Pass lamps is because when you have your lights down, you can flash your lights and the light will go through the lense and alert the person in front of you to get the hell outta your way so you can pass them.

I could see the Japanese ones being useless for that seeing as how the 5w bulb that's in them isn't exactly going to scare anyone off the road.

I was under the impression that it took modifications to make the FTP's work. If not, then how do you do it? My car doesn't have a manual and I haven't found one online.

to clean mine up i used a few steps. once i removed them from my front bumper (two nuts on the inside of the bumper for eack light, this is because of the two studs mounted on the lights) i cleaned them with dish detergent in my sink, then used clear coat pollish with a few paper towels on the fronts of each lens. then used clay and lubricant solution(soapy water) for pollishing the clear coat on cars. My lenses look brand new again. crystal clear finish.

open your hood, raise your headlights and you should be able to get your hand behind them. there are 2 nut (haha) 1 on each side. I think they are 8mm, i used a small ratchet and socket to get it out.

I think they are pretty useless cause light shines better without them lol. "JDM" have more of a functional use to them, but theres no way in hell im going to spend what is it? 100? 200? for a 5w bulb lol RIP OFF

the only problem with removing them is that it looks like something is missing. Alot of people will bug you about that

Cool

Cool I am getting the car repainted and I wanted to get them out and clean them while it is in the shop. And now that I am an assistant fire chief I have turned my FC into an emergency response vehicle with lights and sirens(be on the look out for pics and vids.

*grin* That sounds like a blast. I'm eagerly awaiting pics.

What color are you painting it? Bright red?

the best thing to use to polish those lenses or any lense is tooth paste. just like a buffing compound, the silica in the toothpaste is gentle enough to not scratch them but gritty enough to cut through the oxidation. grab a towel and gob some toothpaste on there and rub one out. cant use the gel and they smell minty fresh when done. of course you wash the lenses before and after the polish though

Black

No, It is gonna be black like the original color. Plus people have told me it looks like Kit, for you older generation. Mainly LED's, Strobes, and headlight flashers. Awaiting on one more LED unit then I will get some pics and vids.

And I have a 3 step 3M polishing system we use for the lenses on our fire trucks, works great!!

What about the LED line that moves back and forth on the grill area? That would be baddass.

I used Maguires Plastic polish with a cloth and it made them look brand new, and you can use the stuff on your tail lights too.

Lucky13 has the answer on how to remove the FTPs, but after you raise the headlights, make sure you remove the headlight motor fuse. Otherwise, you could end up with one less hand.

Also neighbor, see my PM.

There's no such thing as "FTP lights". You can have FTP lenses as fitted to US FC's or you can have front marker lights as fitted to Japanese FC's. You can't have both.
