Reman Engines?

What should I expect to pay for a motor from Mazda? Should I just get it from my local dealer or is there a place that gets better quality or cheaper motors?

Any opinions on remans? Anbody get a bad one?

Thanks.

The core also includes the front cover, front pulley, flywheel and oil pan.

I put a Mazda Reman in my 90 GXL last summer, and found that it's best to hold on to the old engine until everything is transferred over.

Clarify with your purchasing dealer!! The warrenty is 1 year. However I have heard of "internet rumors" where the warrenty is not honored UNLESS the engine is installed by a MAZDA DEALER. Verify!!!!!Before laying out your cash!!!!!

My GOD, the day has come, and it scares the HELL out of me.

Here I click into this thread seeing banzaitoyota as the last poster. I think to myself ,here it comes: "Get a pineapple motor, they come with new housings and a warranty that beats all others...".

Banzaitoyota has replied to an *engine* thread without use/recommendation of *Pineapple racing*!! I thought I would never see the likes of such a day

Just messin with ya man :

When I bought my Mazda reman from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda, he told me that the warranty was 12 months with unlimited mileage.

But as I stated, some people have had trouble getting the warrenty honored if they installed it themselves

I just got a quote from Ray,

- $1800 for the reman engine
- $150 - $165 for extra needed gaskets
- + Core

$2000 if core is retuned $3000 if not.

I must say that Ray is a very nice guy, and he even offer some old used apex, seals, etc for free so that I can re assemble the old engine and use it as a core.

But then again, Mazda will not street port and supercharge your engine *and* retain the warrenty

Matt,

I know that Steve has ordered several engines from Malloy (in fact he's got 3 in his garae right now to install) so he might be at least of some help... If nothing more than to combine a couple on a pallet to save some shipping $$.

i have a mazda reman and the warantee is 1yr if installed by mazda dealer... (but can be convered if you are original owner with some fighting if you install your self) . otherwise the warrenty is 12months or 50,000km's which ever comes first! I know i tried getting warrenty on my toasted mazda reman with 6500km's on it! no good cause i wasn't the original owner and mazda did not install it. Scathcart had installed it!
