Relocated coil pictures please
OK so I decided to finish my FC and keep it for good. I have 5k saved up that I can spend on the car and I want to finish the engine bay. I am half way through filling in all of the holes and smoothing it out, but I need to get the coils out of there but in a safe location...I do not know if they are prone to head soak and need cooling??
Right now both harnesses are tucked in the frame rails and the standalone wiring goes straight from the engine to the back firewall, all hidden.
so give me some ideas...I have 2 days before my stance coilovers show up!!!

I am trying to have a very minimalistic engine bay. I want to have a motor, turbo, radiator, and a brake booster. All holes are filled, wires are tucked all that is left is the coils.

well, I do like the idea, it has real potential for both aesthetics and function. do you plan on making it a one seater? because that could open up some under-dash space, you could use the passenger leg room for stuff like this. otherwise I'm not sure where you could put them, but I'm not real familiar with every inch of my RX-7 like I am with my 323, I've only had the '7 a couple months.

Loads of room under the dash. Also if you are not running a stereo, you can place them in the center console.
In 1st gens I've seen them hidden up in the cowl where the wiper motor lives, but I don't think there's enough space in the 2nd gen in that location.

OK so all I need to do is fab a bracket...and then make sure they are properly grounded and I am good to go!
Just wanted to be 100% fine that a 2 gauge ground wire would be sufficient for the coils.

how about down on the frame rail, right across from the plugs? or maybe fd style right on top of the engine?

The top of the engine is actually a horrid spot. Too much heat and vibration.
Frame rail is probably a good location but it doesn't really clean up the engine bay.

Yeah I am going for just off the side of the side of the steering column towards the fender under the dash. There is lots of open space. I am going to run an extra ground wire from their mounting body just to be sure I am getting proper spark.
Also is Gorilla hair going to be decent for filling in holes in the engine bay? I dont have access to a welder and this fiberglass flexible bondo stuff I think will hold just fine for smoothing the engine bay.
