I'm looking to buy a '88 turbo rx-7, so I need comments on what to be careful about, when shopping for it ? the guy said the engine and body are very good, but I'm pretty sure it can't be in perfect shape if it's for sale ?

 

Get a compression check.

 

If you do a search on what to look for when buying a RX-7 you will probably get close to a million hits. (ok maybe not that many). But you should find enough info to keep you busy for hours

 

Somebody posted a list of stuff to check just the other day. I think it was under buying checklist or something. DO a search for "buying checklist" adn it shoudl come up.

 

If the OD is around 100k miles, keep in mind that you got maybe 50k miles MAX before the engine lets go, unless you're going to baby the car like grandma (i.e. stock boost, stock exhaust).

Used FC turbos are only worth about $2k-$3k, so watch for asking prices that are too much (see thread on $4k NA ).
