relationship between 6puck unsprung clutch and motor mounts & a question
it's been a little over 2 months since i installed the act 6 puck unsprung w/ extreme pp. i knew it was going to be harsh, but.... "harsh" doesn't even begin to describe it. it's definitely going to be sprung hub next time. i do love the 5th-4th chirps. anyways, all those quick shifts finally broke both my motor mounts. now to prevent this from happening again, i want better mounts. i.e.- mazdaspeed & mazdatrix. also plan on the rb torque brace.
my question is which is better? mazdaspeed comp? or the mazdatrix? thanx

Your motor mounts were probably beginning to break and not the clutch fault. If anything, your front differential mounts would go before the motor mounts.
I've had the ACT unsprung for 3 years now and there is no sign of cracks on them when I looked at them about a year ago. I replaced the front diff. mount due to hard launches.
There is no harshness to the unsprung clutch. I got used to it after a couple days of city driving. You can't always launch hard on those and you can't ease off them as sprung clutches. Normal driving I rev to about 2000 and as I feel it grab I pop the clutch. I don't need to look at the RPM now but just feel the engine. You'll get used to it after a few days of city driving. Again,
you cannot rev and ease of the clutch as you'll eat up the flywheel.

before the mounts went. in normal city driving, i would barely rev at all as i let the clutch out. i took the warning not to slip the clutch to hard.. so basically, i used to pop it
also, i have an oil leak from where the right motor mount bracket bolts up to the bottom of the oil pan. how do i fix that? O rings?

The motor mount that bolts through the oil pan *might* be a bitch to do. You could unbolt it and silicone the threads and bolt it back on or remove the oil pan and re-silicone it if that doesn't work. Before you unbolt the 3 bolts o the oil pan you *MUST* support it to keep it from dropping and breaking the motor mounts. Use a floor jack and place a 2x4 lumber under the tranny and support it. As far as the motor mounts you think is the suspect for the broken mount, it had to be leaking for a long time before it does any harm and furthermore the mounts are very hard rubber and I highly doubt it's from the oil leak. But, it needs to be fixed since it makes a mess and causes other soft rubber to deteriorate. Stck motor mounts are more than enough for everyday use. Unless you drag race or autocross every weekend competition mounts are not necessary. If you can get polyurethane front diff mounts, that would be a good idea. I changed mine when that broke.

well, i work in a shop.. so i was planning on suporting the oil pan to change both of the mounts. and the right mount is leaking and the left one is about to. i dont think the oil leak caused that neither.
who makes polyurethane mounts for our cars? i've searched but nothing. thanks

The polyurethane I mentioned was for the front diff. mount. They break after hard launches and especially if you have unsprung clutch. I know Victoria British sells them. By the way, support the motor at the tranny not the oil pan.
