Reinstalling flywheel nut....
what if, I had the 2 1/8 socket, but no compressor to power my impact wrench. since the nut self tightens when the motor turns, would it be sufficient to just put a big wrench on the socket, and just torque it on as hard as I could by hand? or does it absolutely neeed to be put on to 300ft-lbs with an impact wrench
i would use a torque wrench to get used to 100ft-lbs, put a breaker bar on the socket, put a 3 ft cheater bar on the breaker bar and push about 100ft lbs worth of pressure...

don't have a torque wrench yet either.
I sent the flywheel away with the engine when it was rebuilt. They removed it and resurfaced it. I ended up buying a different engine altogether so they sent me back the flywheel seperately, now Im stuck having to put it back on :P
so COULD I just put a bigass wrench on there and torque it down as hard as I can? I doubt I'll exceed 300 ft-lbs, and if I push hard enough don't you figure it'll be over 100?

if he doesn't have $32 for the tool then he can't even rent one.
imo i would wait and save $ to do the job properly or you will be sorry one way or another, either by hurting yourself by using inadequate tools or by the flywheel coming loose and doing more damage than hitting your toes with a wrench.
