Exclamation registering a car

well first off heres the story.....

my friends and I one went out in his backyard(big piece of land) and we saw something shining so we walk over and found out that it was a turboII. Since both of my friends have 7's they didnt need the car but they did get some parts from it but they never moved the car or anything. The car is still in perfect condition no rust or anything.....

so i was wondering if a car is on ur land for a certain amount of time can u claim it as urs even though you you dont have pink slips and crap? Could u take it to the dmv and have them do a whole new registeration so u can claim it as yours?

i hope its possible because theyll give it to me if we can do that.

Call the DMV. Laws such as this vary from state to state so the only way would be to ask someone.

Just call the DMV, and run the plate or VIN. Say the car is abandoned on your land, and you need to contact the owner before it gets taken to the recycler.

they will give you the guys name and address, then trace him or her down and ask if the car available.

No there is not anyway you can just take the car without the owner... that would be stealing, even if the owner has abandoned the car.

You also might be able to apply for a lost or salvage title, but you would have to look in to those, because I am not sure about that.
