Refinishing the Taillights on my vert
I'm in the process of restoring my vert (Just got a new top today yay!) and I'm curious if anyone has tried to get rid of the scratches around the key hole for the trunk? I was thinking about using a very light grit sand paper and buffing it out with the headlight restore compound.

Use a rubbing compound, followed by a polishing compound, then wash and wax the area. I only use hand-applied compounds, and don't use turtle wax. I use 3M, but other brands like Meguiars or Mothers would be just fine. Don't fall for scratch fixer in a bottle. They don't work. You pretty much have to do it in stages to get real results.
Stay away from corners, raised areas, and lips. You can burn through the paint and get down to primer in a heartbeat.
