Redoing the interior, what to insulate tranny tunnel with?

Like the title says , I ripped my interior out fully since I had to deal with rust. There was also a hard plastic like lining that I removed which covered a good portion of the interior and tranny tunnel. My current plan is to por15 most of it and then herculine the underside of the car and maybe even inside. Now my question is what should I use to insulate the tranny tunnel. This is going to go into my daily driver vert so I definetely want something that can take the heat. Also whats good sound deadning if one does not want to shell out for Dyno Mat.

You're going to have a hard time making the Herculiner stick to the POR-15 unless you rough the whole thing up with sandpaper (no fun!) or use the etching primer. POR-15 dries glass-smooth...

There are several no-name equivelants to DynaMat. Any local stereo shop should be able to help you.

Yes dyna mat is good, ut with name brand comes price. Like arron said go to your local stero shop, and pick up some cheaper stuff, like sterostop, and some others.

Did you chip off all of the sound deadening on the tranny tunnel?! I ran my 87 n/a with only the sound deadening and the carpet and it was just fine.

Yeah everything is chipped off. The inside of now is basically shiny polished bare metal. Like I said the car is gonna be a cruiser so comfort is very important , I'd like to insulate against heat and wind/road noise as much as possible.

i added some foil type insulation (almost like bubble wrap) that I got from home depot and does a decent job. my exhaust used to press against my auto trans and generate a lot of heat. it's thin, lightweight, cheap, easy to handle.
if you don't find anything else you may want to check it out.
