Question Redoing exhaust - bday gift - what to get?

All I hear about is the need to upgrade the exhaust system on our (new to us anyway) 87 TII. I'd like to do this as a bday gift, but I'm clueless as to what to get, where to look, etc. HELP! Of course I can't ask him
Any ideas of where to start? He is dying to take this thing to the track! And of course to up the HP as far as we can afford!

I just put on the Apexi N-1 and am real happy with it. My N-1 is on the right the Racing Beat is on the left.

dont know about exhaust for the turbo but from what I understand the apexi GT is the highest flowing muff out there right now.
I think it is a 4 1/2 inch tip and 4 inch piping through the muffler.

nice deep tone
and if you want to hear what they sound like there is a link in this thread

exhaust

If you want a loud then get the the Apexi N1, If you want an eye catcher the Greddy Power Extreme (if you can still get it) and if you want proven, clean and close to stock looking get the Racing Beat. I have the Racing Beat Exhaust from the Turbo back and I have to say its tight. There was no converting that needed to be done. It bolted right up. It's not loud at idle but it screams at high rpms. Some of the other exhaust systems especially if you get a down pipe needs some welding. They cat back systems don't always bolt right up. I'm sure there are people that have a difference of opinion but that is what I ran into when I made my choice. All I can say is you will feel the difference. It's the best money I have ever spent.

Later,
Dave

Howdy,

Here's the Racing Beat complete exhaust:

You will also need the fuel cut defender to keep the engine from running lean and killing itself:

If you thought the car was fast before....look out Nelly!
