Redline question

I know S4's redline at 7K, and S5's redline at 8K, but I've seen a bunch of S5's with a 7K redline. Why is that?

Okay, and the N/A's had 8? Wait......I just remember, I had an '89 GTU and it was 7K. It doesn't matter in the least, I'm just curious.

The automatics had a 7k redline. All FCs had a 7K redline, except for the S5 N/A 5-speed, which was 8k.
