Redish fluid coming from top of air pump?

I just changed my water pump & alternator & now I have some redish fluid coming fromt he top of the air pump. Looks like from a hole that is supposed to be there. I can't tell. But I was wondering if anyone knew what that meant? Thanks.

yes, check your hoses and find that leak!! its most likely anti-freeze. double check all your screws. i had one that broke a head while i was tighting it and it caused a leak too, so i had to fix it also. one more thing, check your water pump, u might have been sold a faulty pump. run the car, and shut it off (after warm up of course) and see where the fluid is coming from. if its coming from the pump, you got screwed. yet another thing, make sure u sealed the pump well. did u use plenty of gasket material? and check all the bolts on it. good luck, let us know what u find.

Don't say that, it can't be the water pump, lol. Well I really don't it is anyways. It is a very small amount of fluid & it right on top of the air pump. The water pump is below the air pump so theres no real way it could get on the air pump. Think the air pump is leaking or something. How is there fluid in the "air" pump anyways?

There shouldn't be any fluid "in" the air pump. It sounds like you have a A/F leak somewhere. There are a lot of turbulents under a car so it could be blowing around under the hood. I had a water pump housing gasket leak on me, but it took almost a week for me to find it. The fan was blowing the coolant up against the firewall.... I was looking everywhere on the back of the engine.

Well this fluid just sits in this creak on top of the air pump, not anywhere else at all. Think it is a small leak from the hose right above it, couldn't be anything else really.

Probably a leak from the upper rad neck - if its the aluminum one, they tend to pit over time and then the rad hose wont seal anymore. Bad for two reasons:

1. You'll be losing coolant, how much depends on how bad the
neck is.
2. The coolant will drip on the airpump and likely get sucked
into it (where the alu body meets the back plate) - this will
kill the bearing in the pump (been there done that...)

check it out and replace if necessary, its easy to do.
