Runs along the driver's side fender with a black wire just inside the engine compartment. Comes from the area around the igniters by the brake master cylinder. It goes to the area around the other igniters. The last 12 inches or so has a conduit around it, that's the end that isn't connected to anything. It's a big fat wire.

Where does it go, and what does it do?

I have a 1991 coupe.

 

 

looks like a lead wire from an old sound system. looked like the person who had it before took it out and just cut the wire instead of taking it all out.

 

So, yours doesn't have this wire? Does it also not have the black wire that runs along-side of it? (Same kind of wire - black instead of red)

 

Yeah, that's someone's addition to the vehicle. Possibly for an alarm/stereo/etc.

I've got a wire just like it in mine. Yes, it was for an amp.

and those red wires in the pictures are classic examples of poor stereo installation.

Not covered, running under the trailing coils, not protected in any way... makes you wonder if it is even fused at the battery???
