no, not normal at all. its probably becoming clogged. smell like rotten eggs yet? it can start to make your car run shitty too. you could take it off and gut the inside of it, or better yet, get another one. junk yards are not supposed to sell used emmissions equipment though, so you need new. car might be able to pass emmissions w/ just main cat, maybe not...
