"Recurving" a 12A distributor for a 13B

I read a subtle comment on a site that a 12A distributor can be "recurved" to work on a 13B. Just wondering if anyone knows the procedure, and how to set the timing and install it afterwards.

to my knowledge, it slides right in! my buddy w/ a carbed 13b just used a 12a dist. and it went in w/out a hitch...setting the timing id assume was the same for timing a 12a and a 13b... just look through a haynes manual and read up on timing......

Theres different ignition advance on the distributors for the 12A. I think there's a way to recurve the advance so the timing is right for the 13B, not sure if this is 100% true, Just wondering if anyone has recurved the advance.

To "recurve" a distributor you replace the springs and advance weights. Of course this is much easier said then done as in actual practice it requires significant experimentation and dyno time.

Just use the distributor as is, but advance it as far as you can while avoiding detonation.
