Smile recently manual conversion and just wanted some suggestions on upgrades

Hello all, its been awhile since I've posted on here again... still an rx7 lover...

... anyhow, I recently got a manual conversion for my 87 rx7 because my auto tranny went out on me and i got some dude to help me with the conversion...

... nothing is wrong with the car right now, but I just wanted to get some suggestion from the generals here on what to look out for and what upgrade should I do next. The car is bone stock (except for the transmission).

... I do want to improve the steering since its a manual steering .. any suggestions?

Just learn to love the manual steering. Short shifters are pretty sweet.

What to look out for:
- driveshaft usually starts binding around 150k miles or so
- engine rebuild also around 150K miles or so
- thermostat failing around 100k miles or so
- oil pedestal o-rings leaking oil on upper heater hose causing a pinhole leak that will take you a month to diagnose
- pulsation damper leaking
- front wheel bearings (see the Mazdatrix FAQ)
- pinion snubber failing, noticed by a clunking noise in the rear of the car
- halfshafts clicking (rebuilds available from iscracing.net)
- See Aaron Cake's buying guide in the FAQ.

My favorite street car upgrades:
- Fumoto oil drain valve F-106 without the nipple
- K&N air filter (a drop-in replacement is fine for up to 200hp)
- Red Line synthetic oil in the transmission and differential
- Racing Beat exhaust when original needs replacing (use new rubber donuts!)

Manual steering - Do you have a real manual steering rack, or a ghetto de-powered rack?
