rebuilt n/a engine won't stay running below 3000 rpm

I just put a newly rebilt engine from espritauto@nucleus.com in Calgary Canada into my 88 normally aspirated and I can't get the engine to run under 3000 rpm. Any ideas?

Is your cat clogged? If it is it will smoke like crazy when it is warmed up and smells like crap...

New racing beat exhaust header to muffler no cat. Engine has upgrades to get near 190 hp

Vacuum leak. If it won't run under 3000, that sounds like several small leaks or 1 big one.

So you have a secod confermation my5ababy is correct you have a vacuume leak.
