rebuilt motor questions
I just had my motor rebuilt and i have a few questions i hope u guy can answer for me.
1. My oil pressure hangs around the zero mark on the gauge, is that just because it hasn't broken in completely?
2. I can't adjust the idle for some reason using the top screw on my throttle body, has any one had this problem, i didn't before the engine went?
3. I'm breaking in the engine is there anything that I need to keep an eye on during this break in that is really susceptable to breakage?
Thanks in advance for all the help sorry the post is so long?

when breaking the engine in you must keep an eye out for lose of coolent, lose of oil, temps, oil pressure, and keep it under 4k for the first 500 miles then for every 100 mile add 1000rpms......No oil pressure? check if the connector in connected its under the oil filter...if you car runs fine then it may be the connection or a problem with the gauge or sending unit....
when adjusting the idle make sure you jump the intial set coupler....

probably the gauge, wiring, or sending unit. The sending unit likes to fail, the gauge likes to fail, and the connector for the wiring, that goes onto the sending unit, likes to get dirty and/or fall off. All links in the oil pressure gauge chain are weak, it's pretty sad.
if you cannot influence the idle with the idle screw it often is because there is a small vacuum leak somewhere, how is the idle otherwise? constant? low or high? (must be one of them since you want to adjust it)

the car idles a little below 700 rpms, I've looked in the book and its supposed run at least 700. I just figured that maybe this was a result of the rebuild. Could it have anything to do with low compression?

well have you checked the FSM for adjusting the idle? it requires more than just the bac to be adjusted.. a streetport should idle at 900-1000........

The mystery of the prize.
my street port idled happily around 800 right after I got it started up and adjusted a bit, when I had it running on the stock ecu. I had it running lower around 700ish but I have underdrive pulleys so this was kindof annoying. I will probably idle around 1000 once it's all together with the e6k and new throttle body setup.
Heres a vid of the tach with the stock intake/ecu shortly after it first got running again.
street port, tach view, very little idle then some revving.
