rebuilt alt. still bowing main fuse
rebuilt alt. still bowing main fuse
Alright let's get to the nut meat of this.....My main fuse would blow, sometimes. I would just put a new one in since needed a few days before i could do anything about it. Then the alte started snaping it's belt. Most people from the club said that the fuse blowing probem was part of the alt problem. Took the alt off. Had it rebuilt. Everything worked fine for about two weeks. Just blew the fuse again this week. Also the light on the clock dims evey now and then. Any thought's????
is it a turbo model? the problem that i have seen on a few are that the alt post wears through the boot and it hits the intercooler or motor pull hook occasionally. but it that isnt it you have something dead shorted (check between the battery-to-alt, bat-to-starter, bat-to-main fuse areas) afterwhich you will need to start diabling circuits (pulling fuses not crucial to operation) and start eliminating systems or start tearing everything apart and testing each individual relay on the main power circuit (read: most everything). when does it blow? right after starting, during starting, driving down the road?
