Rebuilding an engine

around how much would it cost to have a high mileage engine rebuilt by a shop? is it that hard to do yourself? is it worth the money to have it done?

It's by far worth it to have it done if you want to get the maximum efficiency from your engine. It's not TOO hard to do, but if you're not familiar with the engine then use a manual (if you're mechanically inclined, if not then just pay us who are . It'll start at around $1000 and can go up by a decent amount depending on what's wrong with your engine.

You should use the search on this forum you will find a lot of useful information.

If you want one of the best shops in the country to rebuild you engine check here: http://www.pineappleracing.com/

Never delt with this guy but from what I understand he does good budget rebuilds: http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/ he is hypntyz7 on the forums

If you want to try yourself buy this tape and see if this is something you want to attempt: http://www.atkinsrotary.com/enginevideo.htm

Hope this helps, just try using the search if it doesn't.

I had my 88 convertible rebuilt by Mazda, had clutch replaced and airconditioner compressor replaced. cost me 3800. Pretty steep, but oh well....
