Rebuilding an 88 TII Motor

So I wanna rebuild my motor for a future turbo swap. I wanna know what rebuild kit would you guys recommend? What seals? Cryo or no cryo? Should I upgrade the stat gears? What stat bearings? This would be a street motor with the odd track days. I wanna put down a least 200 somethin.. Im thinkin a big streetport, but I want it to be as reliable as it can be.

Just use stock parts and stock ports. 2XX is nothing and not worth the cost of special anything.

That being said, going w/ certain FD parts (Corner seals/springs, Oil pressure reg...ect) don't cost more and have been shown to be superior. The Atkins kit should be fine for your purposes as it includes the upgraded parts already.

i think he means 200WHP on his n/a, which aint gonna happen with just streetported turbo irons.

unless you plan on going over 500WHP there isn't anything special attention wise that you need to do to the internals on the turbo'd setup.

atkins are fine if the car is tuned properly, been running mine for about 70k miles. they are less prone to destroying a rotor housing and rotor in cases of detonation like the OEMs will but on the flip side they are quite soft and will blow out the corner edge relatively easily when even moderate detonation cycles occur.

for higher horsepower builds though i would look at ALS, goopy or rotary aviation seals. or for those who have deeper wallets there is the ceramic manufacturers.
