rebuild wont idle below 2k
hey i just fired up my rebuid last night a S5 TII with a half bridge , sounds nice and smooth but cant get it to idle down, I have blocked off emmisions i am running pre mix 100 to 1. Also i just removered my UIM and noticed a little oil up in their ,is that normal? Also will the thermo wax have to removed if i'm not running coolant to it thanks

If you still have the purge valve on her that would explain the oil. It seems like you turbo guys always have oil up in there though, so I dunno...
Right, the thermowax won't work without the coolant flowing past it, and could be responsible for most of that high idle. Let her idle where she wants to at this point, until she gets broken in some...

i just removed the thermo wax and did the TB mod , i dont have oil injection any more , I pulled the CAS and checked to see if all was where it should be and it is. when it dies it is a bitch to get back up, a little ATF and some time it will start again. It is not very responcive is that normall for break in ? I've had it running now for about ( all together ) 45 min.

ya so i ran it again for 20- 30 minutes ran real smooth except the last five minutes it pulsed up and down in the idle (2200 - 2500) for about 5 seconds each pulse continually . I could smell something getting hot i checked the motor and it was the same so i looked aroud. I looked under the car a noticed that the pipe just before it connects to the cat back ( greddy power extreame ) right after the cat , is glowing red, real pretty but probily not normal . any input on this ?

SO i startted it again and it fired right up , it was thinking about idleing but not yet . i have less than 1 hour of run time on it. right now the thing that concerns me is the fact that the pipe in frount of the Y pipe is GLOWING RED , not ant of the other pipe just that part , has anyone had this case?

does it still have air injection? that doeesn't sound normal, no..
if it does have air injection, make sure you have it plumbed correctly, double and triple check, if it is then you may have a valve in your air injection system blown out and feeding air into your cat. this isn't related to your idle problem but is a problem nonetheless.

hmmm, if it is after all the cats then it would be a restriction in the mufflers which is unlikely, i also wouldn't destroy your cat just yet, especially if it is a high flow cat, if i didn't misread your post about it being modded exhaust.
it will also make your car quite loud, maybe too loud.

As far as the idle concerns.. i'd give her some time.. Make sure you stabbed the CAS correctly.. and let her run.. But as for the glowing DP.. what are you running the car with? SAFC?? or which standalone?? Make sure she's set up right for the initial start..

good points , i have a hks super afr i have not hooked up yet. i know i need to go stand alone, but cant intill next month. I've heard of people getting fair resuilts with the super. i dont understand why it would only get red hot after the cat before the Y pipe and yes it is a greddy power extreame.
