Question Rebuild Time?

So my add coolant buzzer comes on approximately once a week. I fill (in eck and bleeder screw out) with coolant everytime. Buzzer goes off and comes back on in a week. Everytime it has taken more coolant/water. This has been happening for the past few months. Just wondering if one of my coolant seals have gone bad. Because sometimes I don't drive the car for two or three days, once I do start it, smokes like hell. Bluish/whitish color. I know I don't burn oil, cause I check it every other day, no drop at all. But I have to keep adding coolant. So rebuild time you think? Blown coolant seals? '87 n/a stock motor, 147k

Sounds like coolant seals. So then yes, time for a rebuild.

Coolant seals affect idle at all, cause my car stalls somtimes during decelerating and braking : rpm drops, not to 750, but to like 300-500. Then sometimes stalls completely when I'm cruising and about to come to a stop.

check your rad cap. mine was all shreaded up since i got a new one i haven't had to add coolant once. your stalling may be a whole different problem. look into all possible causes before you ventrue into a rebuild. check for bubbles when you rad cap is off (blown coolant seal) check your tps and clean those injectors (stalling problem) fc's tend to smoke when their cold

Yeah, I thought about injectors too, don't have the funds yet to send them off to be professionally cleaned. As far as the rebuild, I think I'm going to have to do it soon anyway. It'll give me a good start to work with, planning on installing turbo in the near future. Might as well rebuild just in case. Motor just needs to last untill spring(early March)when I have everything to turbo.
